I had the pleasure of attending in Sydney today the announcement of the Shortlist for the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards 2014.
Steven Herrick set the tone of the day with an engaging keynote address interspersed with readings from several of his books in verse. This was followed by lively panel discussions of the five main categories of books in the Awards:
Early Childhood, Younger Readers, Older Readers, Picture Books and the Eve Pownall Award for Information Books.
The Children’s Book Week theme for 2014 was announced: Connect to Reading and the poster and other merchandise officially launched.
Congratulations to all the shortlisted authors, illustrators and publishers, as well as to all the Notable Books for 2014!
