Discovering National Treasures

May 15, 2014

I’m heading to Canberra this weekend for the Children’s Book Council of Australia National Conference, which is held every two years. The theme for 2014 is Discovering National Treasures, and when you check out the program, you’ll see why. Many of our national treasures in children’s literature will be speakers, including:

Jackie French, Nadia Wheatley, Morris Gleitzman, Libby Gleeson, Julie Vivas, Glenda Millard, Barry Jonsberg, Michael Gerard Bauer, Andy Griffiths, Freya Blackwood, Stephen Michael King, Margaret Hamilton, Mark Macleod as well as many others.

With book launches, discussion panels, displays and exhibitions, there is so much to enjoy at the conference for anyone interested in children’s literature in Australia. The opening reception at the National Library of Australia and the conference dinner at the Australian War Memorial are events not to be missed.
