What an amazing writers’ festival, and not just because I was one of the speakers!
I really enjoyed talking about my writing process and YA novel, Racing the Moon, and answering questions from the audience. Thank you everyone who came to my ‘Young at heart’ session and to those who bought my book.
Everyone that I spoke to at the festival commented on how stimulating and inspirational the speakers were, and those who attended workshops were also very pleased and complimentary. Some people had even travelled from interstate to attend the festival.
The Bradman Museum proved to be the perfect venue. What better place to hold a major literary event than in a world-class Australian cultural institution?
The Bookshop Bowral and Berkelouw Book Barn did a fantastic job selling books, while the museum coffee shops kept up the supply of tea and coffee, and delicious fresh food. The three course literary dinner at Biota Dining was amazing, and surpassed our expectations. By all accounts, the Fest Factor talent quest on Friday night for poets, singer-songwriters, comedians and writers was a lot of fun.
The Southern Highlands Writers’ Festival is one of the best organised literary events that I’ve been to, and I look forward to 2015. Many thanks to Michaela Bolzan, the Festival Director, and her incredible team of volunteers!
Below are a couple of photos from my ‘Young at heart” session. You’ll also find more photos from the festival on the Southern Highland News and Southern Highlands Writers’ Festival websites. Look out for articles and photos on the event in coming issues of the Southern Highland News and Highlife Magazine.
