Studio8 was back in Tamworth for our 4th Tamworth Country Music Festival, and we had a ball! We played seven gigs in five days and the highlights were our gigs on the Toyota Fanzone and JB Hi-Fi Stages, and going to our first Golden Guitar Awards and the inaugural Australian Bush Balladeers Music Excellence Awards. We also loved our Tamworth Songwriters Association gigs at The Oasis and West Tamworth Sports & Bowling Club.
It was wonderful catching up with some of our friends and fellow musos at the Golden Guitars, including Dylan and Matt from Sons of Atticus (Dylan also won Australian Idol in 2024). We were chuffed to be nominated at the A.B.B.A. Music Excellence Awards in the Australian Bush Ballad Heritage Song of the Year category for our song “Ballad of Jim Darcy” which tells the true story of the tragic death of a young stockman that led to the establishment of the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Australia.
At all our gigs in Tamworth we played our original songs, some that we recently wrote and recorded (including our new single “Playin’ Country” out 3 February) as well as songs from our “Into the New” album, released in May 2024. We’ll be releasing five new singles in 2025, and three more new singles and an album in 2026.
